Moriba Jah Talks Space with Gold Star Kids
July 15, 2022
I recently had an overnight visit at Echo Hills Ranch,
engaging with Gold Star kids who’ve lost at least one parent to violence and conflict. I’m so moved by these kids.
I wish I could bring their parent(s) back, but I can’t.
They’re so bright and curious. I taught them about Astrodynamics and Spacecraft Navigation.
I was able to show them a satellite or two going across the dark night sky. It was amazing.
I was also able to join them in their tradition of painting a rock for their deceased and carrying it to the top of Echo Hill to be alongside those of others.
They asked me great questions. I ridiculously succumbed to their request to have me sign their shirts. I so want them to be comforted in their pain and to let them know how awesome each and every one of of them is. I’m grateful to have been allowed to share space with them 🙏🏾💜
I’m here to serve and witness. I’m not here to show anyone how great I am but rather how much better anyone can be than me. I want for my achievements to be the low bar on what can be achieved. When you lap me, I celebrate you.
May my pain be of service to you 🙏🏾💜
