Standing the Test of Time: OMEGA, Privateer expand partnership

March 17, 2025
We’re thrilled to share that OMEGA, the world-renowned luxury watch brand known for its precision, innovation, and timeless craftsmanship, has extended its partnership with Privateer Space, reinforcing our shared mission to protect and sustain the future of space for the benefit of Earth.
In December, Privateer co-founders Steve Wozniak and Alex Fielding visited OMEGA’s world headquarters in Switzerland, getting an exclusive look inside the factory where the iconic timepieces are crafted. They also met with OMEGA SA CEO Raynald Aeschlimann to discuss the deep connection between precision engineering, space exploration, and orbital sustainability.

“Touring the OMEGA factory for the first time has been amazing,” Woz said. “It’s incredible to see the attention to doing things right and doing them well. That’s something we always valued at Apple, and it’s also what we do at Privateer.”
For decades, OMEGA watches have been trusted by astronauts, marking historic moments in space exploration, including the first watch on the moon. Today, that same commitment to precision drives our work at Privateer, where we use cutting-edge space domain awareness and Earth observation technology to keep orbital highways clear, protect the future of space operations, and bolster what we can learn from them.
The two companies' perfect alignment on protecting and sustaining the ability to explore space – and utilize it for humanity's benefit – led to the partnership's founding in 2022. In the time since, Privateer and OMEGA have worked together to create and share education on the importance and intricacies of space sustainability, as well as call attention to the problem of orbital debris in places like The Telegraph.
Also as part of the partnership, OMEGA lent its time tracking to Privateer's efforts to track and predict the paths of human-made objects in orbit through Wayfinder. Its support has also included promotion of the space sustainability message on its own website and as featured in outlets like National Geographic.
To celebrate this collaboration's enduring power, the two Privateer leaders followed the visit by joining a panel with Aeschlimann, discussing how precision technology – from watchmaking to satellite tracking – plays a vital role in shaping our world, both on Earth and in orbit.
From timepieces on the moon to keeping our orbital highways safe and efficient, space and the greater good are in the DNA of both companies, and we're ever-grateful for this ongoing partnership.
